Our story
Today's dormakaba is the result of the merger between two well-established brands – DORMA and Kaba, both known for their expertise in access solutions. DORMA, founded in 1908, offered holistic door solutions, attendance recording, access control, and emergency exit and escape route management. Kaba, founded in 1862, was a leading provider of high-quality access management solutions, keys, cylinders, physical access systems, enterprise data, and time recording. The two brands shared a passion for innovation, a commitment to delivering added value to their customers, and an entrepreneurial spirit.
dormakaba Group commenced operations on 1 September 2015 and has become one of the top three companies worldwide in the access solutions market, quickly launching the first cloud-based access solutions.
Acquisitions of several complementary companies further strengthened the strong market position and nurtured innovation. Being digitally driven accelerated the development of many product launches such as the one of EntriWorX— an access management solution that integrates comprehensive data analysis with the entire entrance ecosystem to empower user-friendliness and convenience in each stage of a door's life cycle.
